LASIK

During a Lasik operation, your eye is anesthetized with drops. Or, if you prefer, you can be placed under general anesthesia. A thin layer of the cornea is prepared with the femtosecond laser or the Keratom laser and folded back like a flap.

LASIK Flap  LASIK Behandlung  LASK Operation

The Excimer Laser is then used to model the cornea for correction of your vision impairment. The flap is subsequently folded back down again. This treatment is pain-free and merely requires that you fix your gaze on a blinking red light for a period of approximately 2 minutes. Even if the eye moves during the procedure, treatment errors are usually prevented by built-in monitoring systems, so-called eye trackers. After the operation on the first eye, a certain amount of time must pass and check-ups must be performed before the second eye undergoes surgery.

Initially blurry, vision clears up after several hours and eye-drops must only be used for a short time period.

The application range for Lasik procedures is up to –8.0 dpt. for myopia, up to +4.0 dpt. for hyperopia and up to 6 dpt. for astigmatism.

PRK Information

Like ASIK, but without the flap. Nearsightedness up to –6.0 dpt., astigmatism up to 3 dpt. A therapeutic lens similar to a contact lens is worn for approximately three days after treatment to protect the cornea.

PTK Information

PTK is a procedure for treatment of scars on the surface of the cornea and corneal injuries. After superficial removal of the top layer of the cornea, the surface of the cornea is ablated in a procedure similar to welding. A contact lens is then placed on the cornea for approx. 3 days, followed by therapy with eye-drops for approx. 7 days.
