The Klinik für Refraktive und Ophthalmo-Chirurgie in the Zentrum für Augenheilkunde (Ophthalmology Center) of the Klinikum Niederrhein (Lower Rhine Clinic) has been awarded five stars and rated as one of “The Leading Hospitals of the World.” The Klinik has also been awarded gold star as „Center of Excellence - LASIK." It offers state-of-the-art diagnostic and treatment technology for diseases of the entire anterior section of the eye. A special segment of the clinic offers a highly modern range of procedures for treatment of impaired vision, making it possible to treat patients with between +25.0 dpt. and –40.0 dpt. as well as high levels of astigmatism.

The clinic has two Excimer lasers, including aberrometers and a femtosecond laser, which are always up-to-date with the latest hardware and software. This naturally holds true of the preliminary examination technology as well. Approximately 4,800 operations in keeping with the highest safety standards are performed in the clinic each year. A physicist is always present during the laser surgery operations on the cornea.
